Provide extra protection for JB Danquah's suspected killer - Family

The family of late Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu has called for more protection for Daniel Asiedu, the key suspect in the murder case.

This follows Asiedu’s confession in court on Wednesday June 20 that, some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) contracted him to kill the lawmaker.

Asiedu is facing commital processes at the District Court where if a prima facie case is established against him, he will have to face a murder trial at the High Court.

In court on Wednesday however, he voluntarily requested to be allowed to speak and when he did, he came up with the confession.

Commenting on the development in a radio interview on Okay FM, Kwaku Solomon who speaks for J.B. Danquah-Adu's family, said they were worried about the safety of the suspect since attempts could be made to prevent him from coming out with the truth.

He said the police should be vigilant about the food and drinks given to the accused person whilst in custody.

He said the police and prison service should give the accused maximum protection because he has agreed to speak and therefore not want anything bad to happen to him.

Mr Solomon urged the accused person to come out with the names of the persons who masterminded the killing.
