The one-day workshop, which was attended by representatives from a cross section of commercial customers including University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast Polytechnic, Amen Sangari Ltd, Ghana Prisons Service, and Sarcon Quarry,  was aimed at introducing these Special Load Tariff (SLT) customers to the new Commercial Management System  intended to improve efficiency and enhance customer service delivery.

Mr Anokye Abebreseh, General Manager, ECG, Central Region speaking to the Daily Graphic said ECG had a social contract with its customers and that the legitimacy of the power distributor was dependent on the extent to which this contract was managed adding that “The Commercial Management System is therefore one of such innovations to delight the customer.”

“This new system would accelerate the new service connection process for customers and also result in quicker response and resolution of customer complaints,” he added.

Presenting the benefits of this new system, the Acting Regional Commercial Manager, Mr Emmanuel Dadzie stated among other things that with this new system, final bills of customers could be prepared and printed on request immediately readings were confirmed without going through the usual thirty days cycle or could even be sent electronically.

He noted that the CMS was designed in such a way that customers would have a graphical view of their consumption pattern over a period of 12 months plotted on their monthly bills.  That, he noted, would enable customers plan their consumption and conserve energy efficiently.

According to him, real time update of customer payments would eliminate completely any disconnections for uncredited payments.

“Until the introduction of this system, managing our commercial operations was always a difficulty. This new system has come to remove all bottlenecks to delight customers in various ways.”

Mr Abebreseh took advantage of the opportunity to bring to light some of the projects ECG is embarking on to improve upon the quality and reliability of the power supply in the Central Region.

The participants expressed delight at the insightful nature of the workshop, and called on management of ECG to endeavour to make it a regular event on the calendar of the company.
