The competition, which will take place in Malaysia, will start today (Wednesday), November 29 and end on Monday, December 11, 2023.

The eight are Maame Korang Ansah-Obuobi, Emmanuelle Dede Mmesoma Ujam, Muhammad Hafiz Zakaria, Isabella Mensima Coleman, Aseda Obenewaa Asiamah, Michelle Yaa Asiedu, Bevin Adjobiri Chemel and Naeema Al-Meyao Abass.

UCMAS is a unique and scientifically proven mental development programme for children to develop their cognitive skills.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic about the feat, the Director of RisingSun Montessori School, Patrick Acheampong, commended the students as emerging winners who will raise the flag of Ghana high on an international platform.

"This is the very first time eight students of RisingSun Montessori School would be representing the country in a Global UCMAS competition, and it appears we have the highest number of students in the competition.

" This is good. RisingSun Montessori School has consistently and undoubtedly built a high and quality educational standard as a springboard for higher height over the years," he said.

Ghana proud

He also urged the students to do their best to make the school and Ghana proud.

"In as much as they are students from this school, I want them to know that whatever they achieve is for the greater good, which is our country Ghana.

Things like these help put the country on the map and I'm confident that the students will not disappoint," he said.

Mr Acheampong further added that currently, two of his students —Maame Korang Ansah Obuobi and Lloyd Kenson Lamptey- would be representing the Central Region in a UCMAS television show which was yet to be aired.

The CEO of UCMAS Ghana, Roger Ohemeng, also added that it was their goal to harness and strengthen the mathematic skills of students to match up with what colleges and employers needed.

"UCMAS promotes foundational building blocks like concentration, observation, memory, imagination, comprehension, judgement, analysis, reasoning and self-confidence; core skills that inspire greater confidence and success in all things," he noted.
