Ensign Global College holds 8th commencement ceremony

Ensign Global College celebrated its eighth commencement ceremony on Saturday, November 17, 2023, conferring degrees upon 28 graduates.

The ceremony, held on the Ensign Global College campus, was graced by Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State and a member of the Council of State, as the keynote speaker.

Transformative journey and innovative leadership

In his inspiring address, Togbe Afede XIV highlighted the transformative journey of Ensign Global College and encouraged the graduates to embrace their role as innovators in a rapidly changing world. 

"If you aim to be the best, you will end up being at worst among the best!" he remarked, emphasizing the purpose of university education as a means to liberate the mind, foster inspired leadership, and cultivate critical thinking skills.

Seizing opportunities amid challenges

Togbe Afede XIV urged the graduates to view challenges as opportunities for growth, aligning their goals with Ensign's principles of entrepreneurship and innovation. He emphasized the importance of hard work and sacrifice as keys to success, stating, "Whatever your choices are, I want to emphasize that you are entering the workplace, business, or continuing your education at a time of change across the world. But the good news is that change and uncertainties bring a lot of opportunities."

Addressing global public health challenges

College President Prof. Stephen C. Alder echoed Togbe Afede XIV's sentiments, calling upon the graduates to utilize their acquired knowledge and skills to address global public health challenges. 

He reflected on the year's achievements, highlighting successes in the US-based (CEPH) accreditation process and the expansion of new academic programs. Prof. Alder challenged the graduates to be agents of prosperity and inspiration, declaring, "Be the leaders, dedicated professionals, and value-creating innovators who apply solutions for these prosperity challenges."

Empowering graduates to make a positive impact

The Board Chair of Ensign Global College, Dr. Lynette Gay, extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their supporters, acknowledging their unwavering commitment. 

Special Guest of Honour, His Majesty Nene Sakite II, Konor of Manya Krobo, further emphasized the importance of using acquired skills to contribute to building a better country and addressing public health challenges.

The ceremony also recognized outstanding students with awards in various categories, including academics, leadership, and community service. Notable awards included Helen Bour (Best Graduating Student 2023), Frank Obeng (Best Thesis), and Ehoenam Ama Mawuenyefia (Community Service Award).
