Bentsifi’s Tattle:Graphic 'Do Ghana' Travel Festival kicks off

Hopefully, it will also bring us some pride, and joy, to mention it. You see, Goldstar Air is a wholly-owned Ghanaian airline that intends to help improve the Ghanaian economy and lives of Ghanaians through the provision of affordable and available international travel and provide job opportunities and aviation-related training to Ghanaians. In particular, our youth.

So, I learn, the airline will be creating something like five thousand direct and indirect jobs, minimum, in Ghana. Some of the openings will include pilots, ground service crew, service persons in maintenance, cabin crew, counteragents, travel agents, tour operators, country managers, stations managers, accountants, flight dispatch, drivers, marketing personnel, air marshals, cargo agents, catering services, hotel accommodations, fuel suppliers... good lord! See the employment supply chain of just one airline!

I pray COVID will spare us quickly so we can get this airline off the ground and bring in some needed opportunities! This is such exciting news.

It's a long weekend. I hope you took off a road trip, or join a tour. Today is the first of three Super-Deals August Saturdays, where "locally made locally loved" brands participating in the 'Graphic Do Ghana Travel Festival' are making offers, giving away discounts in a big nationwide bonanza.

You've seen it, haven't you? Lots of brands on social media - Facebook and Instagram - splashing images of their products and services with the technicolour strap and badge of the Festival proudly flooded all over online platforms. I tell you, some are giving away as much as 40 per cent off their regular prices! Yes, I kid you not, and me, I am going to monitor the Do Ghana handles to make sure I get some good bargains.

I know today they are on a tour to Assin Manso to join the Emancipation day commemoration. On Tuesday Founders' day, there's a city tour that promises to be enlightening, exploring the old part of town, and then comparing it with the new neighbourhoods. That should be interesting!

And then on Saturday next week, it's all about cocoa. The tour is a whole experience up the Akuapem Highlands exploring the original cocoa farm Tetteh Quarshie planted among other exciting activities.

There's yet another tour. That's the place the Saturday after next. That will take tourists up the Avatime Highlands at Amedzope. Trust the WangoWango people who are going with them.

They will be serving some very fresh air and as they always carry their kitchen along, some succulent pork and chicken is guaranteed to appear somewhere around your lips. You can be sure of a very memorable climax of the 'Graphic Do Ghana Travel Festival'. Let's do this.
