Airlines ground Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes after Ethiopian air crash

Following the Tragic accident involving its ET 302/10 March B-737-8 MAX, Ethiopian Airlines has decided to ground all B-737-8 MAX fleet effective yesterday March 10, 2019 until further notice.

“Although we don’t yet know the cause of the accident, we had to decide to ground the particular fleet as extra safety precaution.
Ethiopian Airlines will release further, “ the airline said in a statement.

Meanwhile, China and Cayman Airways have also grounded all B-736-8 MAX aircrafts.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China ordered that all domestic Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets be out of the air by 6 p.m. local time, due to its principle of "zero tolerance for safety hazards."

China has one of the world largest fleets of Boeing 737 MAX 8, operating 97 of the planes.

According to CNN, the move followed an announcement from Ethiopian Airlines that the carrier had grounded its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets as an "extra safety precaution."

Sunday’s crash is the second time in less than six months that a new Boeing aircraft crashed just minutes into a flight.

In October last year, A Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 flight crashed into the Java Sea in last killing all 189 people on board.

Both crashes are under investigation and there is no evidence of a link between the two, but similarities in the incidents have prompted caution among some airlines.
