‘Old school’ music night at Nubuke
The Nubuke Foundation at East Legon in Accra is noted for its visual arts, spoken word and drama activities but the venue will open its doors to a special music event on Saturday, June 14.

Organised by JamJar events and The Golden Stool Project, the night will showcase neo-traditional music from flutist, Dela Botri, and his Hewale Soundz from 7.00pm.
That will be followed by a dance session which will feature Ghanaian music from the 1970s on vinyl selected from the collection of London-based record collector, writer, radio presenter and disc jockey, Bernard Johnson-Tackie, also referred to as Volta45.
The late 1960s and 1970s are considered by knowledgeable Ghanaian music lovers as The Golden Age of Ghanaian Music.
The period laid the foundation for the explosion of distinctive Afro sound and the emergence of bands and musicians like Hedzoleh Sounds, Magic Aliens, Pagadeja, Boombaya, El Pollos, Zonglo Biiz, and Gyedu Blay Ambolley.
Records released on vinyl during that era still continue to influence the music we hear today and Saturday’s event aims to bring back some of the memories from that period.
“It will be a chance to dance the night away to great made-in-Ghana music,” a representative of the organisers said.
