Here comes Lololi Quashigah again

Young, bright fashion designer, Lololi Quashigah, will unfold her latest creations at a show slated for Saturday, August 5 at the Paloma Hotel on the Spintex Road in Accra.

It would be the 14-year-old designer’s third exhibition after previous ones  at N’Joy Hotel (2015) and  Oak Plaza Hotel (2016), both in Accra.

Cliq Awards unveils categories tomorrow

Organisers of the Cliq Awards, a Photography and Videography awards are set to unveil categories and open nomination at an event set for tomorrow, Friday, 28 July at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Accra.

The award scheme, the first of its kind in the country is aimed at recognising and awarding the works of photographers and videographers, photojournalists, agency workers in advertising and commercial image delivery industry.

The Adventures of Sasa and Esi comes to National Theatre

Sankofa Heritage Production, a creative arts production house and the National Theatre of Ghana will treat Ghanaians to a play titled, The Adventures of Sasa and Esi (Subruku the Giant) on July 28, 29 and 30 at the National Theatre.

Another PechaKucha Night at Goethe-Institut

Homecoming, bonfire night herald Ada Asafotufiami

Aqua Safari Resort will play host to a homecoming and bonfire night to herald the annual Asafotufiami festival of the Chiefs and people of Ada on Wednesday August 2, 2017.

The week-long event which ends on August 10 will bring together sons and daughters of Ada, both home and abroad together to celebrate a festival, which is in its 80th year of existence.

Cape Coast CNC helps the young discover talents

A variety of creative activities have been lined up by the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Cape Coast to keep young people in the metropolis busy throughout August.

The Centre describes the project as a vacation training programme to teach bead-making, interior decoration, crocheting, hair braiding, needle work, traditional drumming and dancing and folk songs free of charge to interested young folks.

Millennium Market wins Kpataashie cooking contest

The Millennium Market in Accra has won this year’s Kpataashie cooking contest organised by the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in collaboration with the Greater Accra Market Women’s Association. 

‘Kpataashie’ is a Ga word for kitchen and the contest, which aims at helping to traditional dishes from around the country, is held yearly as part of the Republic Day celebrations. It is also a platform for the promotion of Ghanaian cuisine.

Men take over the kitchen at food bazaar

The Tema District of the Assemblies of God Church, (AG), on Saturday organised a food bazaar and fun games for members of the congregation as part of activities to mark Ghana's Republic Day anniversary celebrations.

The food bazaar saw men from the various assemblies of the district cooked and serve members with mouth-watering dishes.

Tehilla Experience is here again

It has been an annual event to bring the biggest acts in the gospel fraternity onto one stage and this year will be no different when award winning gospel artiste, Ohemaa Mercy, and her colleagues delight patrons at this year’s Tehilla Experience concert.

The concert which will come off at the  International Central Gospel Church, Calvary Temple, on Sunday, August 6, will have gospel  artistes such as veteran musician, Elder Mireku, Francis Amo, Ceccy Twum, Cecilia Marfo, Bro. Philemon, Minister Ramzy and Uncle Ato.

Kumasi stands up for YFM Area Codes

The Kumasi City Mall was the place to be last Saturday when the YFM Area Codes Jam stormed Oseikrom for the first time on Republic Day, July 1, 2017.

Last Monday’s event which was the second in 2017(the maiden was hosted at the Trade Fair Centre) attracted thousands of music lovers who were charged to jam the night away and not even the rains could stop patrons from enjoying themselves.

Infectious  criss-cross rhythms  filled the air at the Kempiski Hotel in Accra  last Saturday,  June 24,  when the famous Osibisa band took to the stage at this year’s Exclusive Man of the Year (EMY) Africa Awards ceremony.  

With two of the band’s original members, guitarist Wendel Richardson and drummer Sol Amarfio teaming up with a squad of  younger hands including Bessa Simons on keyboards and Della Hayes on backing vocals, the Afro-rock band delighted guests  with some of  its time-tested hits.

Ghanaian cinema at ‘African Perspectives’ series

A film series dubbed ‘African Perspectives’, dedicated to well-produced  African films, takes off  on Thursday,  July 6 at the Goethe-Institut in Accra with the screening of Kwaw Ansah’s  ‘Love Brewed in the African Pot.’

The focus from July to December 2017 is on Ghanaian cinema. Consequently, one Ghanaian film will be screened on the first Thursday of each month alongside question and answer sessions with filmmakers, actors and actresses.

Police Band to honour Prof Nketia, others

The Ghana Police Band, under the direction of Supt. Dr Frank Hukporti, will hold a concert to celebrate the musical life of Emeritus Prof. J. H. Kwabena Nketia on Monday, July 3 at the Ghana Police Church, 37, in Accra.

Also to be celebrated  at the concert  are four other Ghanaian music educationists/composers: Prof C.W.K. Mereku,  Dr Joshua Amuah, Lawyer  W. E.  Offei and Mr Kenn  Kafui.

Sunyani CNC hosts Honeymoon Hotel

“Honeymoon Hotel, ’a satirical comedy written and directed by Stephen Yaw Oppong, will be performed on Sunday, July 2, at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in the Brong Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani.

The play deals with the inconsiderate reasons which underpin many relationships and marriages, leading to rampant divorces and broken hearts.
