The Centre describes the project as a vacation training programme to teach bead-making, interior decoration, crocheting, hair braiding, needle work, traditional drumming and dancing and folk songs free of charge to interested young folks.

A spokesperson for the Centre Mrs Lydia Nyarko-Ampomah said the programme, slated from August 1 to August 30, aims at helping young people to discover and hone some of their natural gifts.

She pointed out that many people did not know what creative abilities they possessed until they were exposed to various tasks.

“We also want to help young people get over the boredom of staying at home during holidays and the possibility of getting involved in some undesirable pursuits. All they need to do to be part of the programme is to pick registration forms at a small fee from the CNC office in Cape Coast.

“We will have two sessions each day for the duration of the programme which we trust will greatly enhance our young people’s appreciation of important elements of our culture,” the spokesperson said.
