Hanch, home of quality food
The new air-conditioned Hanch Kitchen located in Community 5, Tema is a great place to hang out, chill and enjoy meals made to satisfy various taste buds.

Delivering not just any kind of food, but the mouth-watering and delicious food served by friendly waiters is something that has endeared the restaurant to the hearts of many residents of Tema, setting it above the rest.
Hanch Kitchen which offers a variety of freshly cooked local and continental dishes is roomy enough to seat a large number of clients on both the first and second floors of its three storey facility.
However, Hanch Kitchen has not always been housed in this three storey building when it was started some 14 years ago by two sisters, Mrs Hannah Nsiah and Mrs Christiana Blankson.
It started from their parent’s home in Tema on March 13, 2003, when the two came together to fulfil their father’s dream of owning a restaurant by opening one in Tema to honour him.
Their father, the late Peter Addai, a popular cook who used to work with the national shipping line, Black Star Line always relished the desire to own a restaurant but he, unfortunately, passed on before that could become a reality.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz in Tema after the inauguration of the new restaurant facility on June 29, 2017, Mrs Nsiah said they picked the traits of cooking from their father. “Our father was a chief cook, who did not only cook well but also travelled widely. His desire was to open a restaurant. Unfortunately, he passed on.
“Since he couldn’t achieve that vision before he departed this world, we his children decided to do something to honour his memory, so myself and my sister came together to start this eatery, Hanch, a name that is now a household name in Tema and beyond”, she said.
Mrs Nsiah said Hanch Kitchen started in the home of their parents but with time, the business grew so they relocated to a rented place at Community 4.
She said as time went on, the clientele base increased hence the need to expand. Something that led the two sisters to scout for a place in nearby Community 5.
“With faith and persistence, management with support from our bankers succeeded in putting up another branch of Hanch Kitchen.”
The three storey facility, located behind Tema Senior High School boasts of an attractive and cosy atmosphere which greets you on entering, plus excellent food service as well as an impressive customer service delivery.
Asked the secret which has led to the growth of Hanch Kitchen, Mrs Christiana Blankson, the other director of the facility said apart from investing their time, effort and expertise in the business, management makes it a point to reinvest their profits in order to grow the business.
Mrs Blankson also attributed some of the successes of their enterprise to the desire to do their best to offer healthy meals to the public and this, they and the staff have worked hard to maintain.
She disclosed that Hanch which started with three employees currently has a staff strength of 80. “ The success of Hanch also goes to the staff for their passion for what they do”, she added.
The opening of the new restaurant was graced by officials of the Ghana Tourism Authority; Tema-based rapper Sarkodie among others.
