Fishbone Corleone sings for peace

As Ghana heads towards the polls in November, many musicians prepare songs to ensure there is peace in the country before, during and after the elections.

One of such musicians committed to this cause is Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Fishbone Corleone.

Fishbone who is currently promoting his peace song, Sankofa, has been doing music for some years now and believes it is the responsibility of any reputable musician to use their God-given talent to preach positive messages to the society.

In a chat with Showbiz, he said, “I believe it is about time we use our talent to impact society positively.

“ We must not always concentrate on songs that make people dance because it is entertaining. As artistes, we must use our platforms for worthy initiatives,” he said.

Sankofa, a Reggae song, talks about the need to be patriotic and that all citizens should be peaceful in this election period.

The song goes on to talk about how tribalism, nepotism and corruption are crippling the structures of government.

On what he hopes to achieve with Sankofa, Fishbone, real name, Ibrahim Musah said it was his way of ensuring that the country maintains the peace it currently enjoys.

“This country has been enjoying peace because of how we have been conducting ourselves before, during and after elections regardless of who wins and that is very commendable,” he stated.

However, he cautioned Ghanaians not to take the peace we are enjoying for granted.

“Sankofa is a reminder that we all have a duty to maintain the peace we have irrespective of our diverse political backgrounds,” he stated.

Fishbone who has performed on many platforms such as the YFM Area Code Jam and the annual Nima Sallahfest said he has recorded songs with artistes such as Quataa, Kamellion among others.

And Soo Clean, Catch Me If You Can and Bad Man are some of the songs he has to his credit.
