Maiden Betway basketball competition held in Takoradi

Betway Ghana, a sports betting company operating in Ghana has in collaboration with the Ghana Regional Basketball Association held its maiden community basketball tournament in Takoradi.

The main goal of the competition was to offer talented basketball players and teams in communities including those in and around Takoradi the opportunity to showcase their talent.

The event included both a headline basketball tournament and a number of additional crowd-participation events like the 3-pointer shootout.

The community basketball tournament was also to showcase the continued commitment of Betway Ghana towards enriching lives through sport.

In all eight teams played each other in a keen but fun-filled competition with the winning team Nungua Cold Store beating Oil City Dragons by 48-17 to pick the ultimate prize and cash prize. Oil City also took home cash prize.

Some of the fans also got the chance to compete for prizes in the slam dunk competition, 3-pointer shootout and the free throw contest.

The Country Manager of Betway Ghana, Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah, was happy about the positive impact the tournament would bring in terms of nurturing and developing local basketball talents at the community level and the country as a whole.

"The Betway basketball community tournament is about every community and every team. In the true spirit of sport, it is about giving opportunity to the individuals and teams which excelled” he added.
