Prez Mahama confers with security forces
President John Dramani Mahama has tasked the security agencies in the country to submit their respective strategies which will ensure election security during and after the December 7 general election.

He disclosed that he had scheduled a national security council meeting where all the strategies would be assessed and approved for prompt execution.
President Mahama was speaking on GBC Sunrise FM in Koforidua as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region yesterday.
He expressed optimism that the security services in the country have what it takes to police and monitor the 2016 general election to a peaceful end.
The President also hinted that the security services would be undertaking joint exercises to raise the morale of the forces in advance of the elections.
"We find that every year before an election, fears are raised and a lot of panic is spread across but we have held six successful elections and I do not anticipate this is going to be any different.
"Our security services are in the position and ready to quell any untoward incident that may occur and I must say that as Commander-in-Chief of Ghana, I will live up to expectation to ensure that peace is maintained before, during and after the elections, " he said.
Education
On education, the President touted his government’s achievements, saying his government had done so well to improve the educational sector.
He said the standard of education was getting better, since quality, access and affordability as strategies were used to tackle the poor standard it used to be.
He said there had been drastic reduction in teacher absenteeism which stood at 26 per cent and now stood at nine per cent, a situation which, according to him, had improved engagement hours between pupils and teachers.
"The achievement has been phenomenal and that is what is reflecting in the results the children are recording currently. We have also reduced the ratio between trained and untrained teachers because of the increase in the number of teachers from the colleges of education. We now have more trained teachers for the schools," he said.
He said the government had invested so much in education and made available teaching materials to schools in the country where core textbooks and exercise books, among other resources, had been provided to pupils to enhance teaching and learning.
