Exhibit values of peace during election — Rev. Adu-Tetteh
Ghanaians have been tasked to exhibit the ideals and values of peace before, during and after the December 7 election.

In so doing, they have been asked to go into this year’s election peacefully and also pray for the country to have a successful poll.
The Minister in charge of the Anointed One Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Sakumono Main, Rev. Emmanuel Adu-Tetteh, stated this when he delivered a sermon on the theme: “pursue, overtake, recover”, at the congregation’s annual fundraising harvest which also marked its cultural Sunday.
He said as Ghanaians, we are one people with a common destiny and there is the need for us to uphold peace at all times by preventing any electoral violence, irrespective of our clan, political affiliation or socio-cultural status.
He stressed, “people must see us as Ghanaians and we should also be dedicated citizens, since electoral violence affects all.”
Rev. Adu-Tetteh said “Ghana belongs to all of us and your brother in the other party or tribe is not your enemy. We must, therefore, preach peace and work for peace and live for peace, but not to point accusing fingers and insult others to create violence.”
Sustaining security
He said peace did not come on a silver platter and cautioned against violent behaviour that would undermine the satability of the nation, stressing that a peaceful election should not be conducted in an atmosphere of anger, violent confrontation or insults, since security in the country should be enhanced and sustained.
The reverend minister called on all key stakeholders in the electoral process to play their respective roles well to strengthen the structures that would help to prevent conflict situations in the period of the election and beyond.
He said the major outcome of the exercise that should interest the nation is the maintenance of peace, stability and the country’s democracy.
He added that the attainment of a peaceful election was a responsibility for all and encouraged civil society and other stakeholders to work together by consulting and sharing experiences with the aim of stimulating peaceful attitude to ensure electoral integrity on December 7 and beyond.
