Rocksure International, a wholly Ghanaian owned mining company, has donated $50,000 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund to support its activities.

Officials of the company were at the Jubilee House last Friday to make the presentation to the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.

Nature of pandemic
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr Kwasi Osei Ofori, explained that the nature of the pandemic was such that no one knew who was a carrier or a potential victim.

He added that neither was anyone certain of the range of potential victims, employees, relatives and community members as well as how long the pandemic will last.

Mr Ofori said all those elements made the virus a public enemy number one, all hands needed to be on board.

A non-Executive Technical Director of the Company, Mr Ike Mensah, said: "Rocksure International's effort is to help promote the government's strategy to be ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic, rather than chase after the dire consequences as other countries have sadly experienced."

Government grateful
Receiving the cheque, the Chief of Staff said the government was working to ensure that Ghana did not reach the levels of suffering in some countries, hence the decision to seek the face of God through prayers and fasting and the institution of practical measures.

She stated that the government was scaling up the contact tracing efforts and other measures to halt the community spread.

She commended the company for the donation.
