Parliament has not watched any video on MPs' corruption - Nitiwul

The Deputy Minority Leader, Mr Dominic Nitiwul, has denied claims that the leadership of Parliament previewed a video from journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, detailing corrupt practices on the part of some MPs.

In a series of articles published this week, ‘Citizen Vigilante’ and former Attorney-General, Mr Martin Amidu, alleged that Anas had colluded with President John Mahama to suppress the results of an investigation into alleged corrupt practices in Parliament.

Claiming that the investigation had been commissioned by the late President John Mahama, Mr Amidu added that the leadership of Parliament had already watched the video and had given their backing to its suppression.

However, in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM on Thursday, Mr Dominic Nitiwul denied that the parliamentary leadership had watched any such video.

According to the Deputy Minority leader, what the parliamentary leadership watched was a preview of the judicial corruption video.

Noting that he was the one Anas contacted to help arrange the preview with the leadership of Parliament, Mr Nitiwul stressed that the video had nothing to do with corruption in Parliament.

He said Anas had wanted them to preview the video so that they would not be too shocked when he released it to the public.

He said the preview occurred about two weeks before the video was screened to the public, adding that Anas recorded the private viewing session with the parliamentary leadership on video.

Mr Nitiwul went on to add that Mr Amidu must have been misinformed by whoever told him that the parliamentary leadership watched a video involving corruption in Parliament.
