Reports indicate several people have been injured as a result of the renewed conflict which started early Wednesday morning.

Yinyamba is about 48-kilometres away from the district capital of Gushegu.

Two injured persons have been sent to the Gushegu Government Hospital for treatment.

The administrator of the hospital, Emmanuel Donkor confirmed to Accra based Joy FM that the two sustained gunshot wounds.

He said one of the injured persons was at the Out Patient Department (OPD) whilst the other was at the theatre where doctors were attending to him.

A police officer described Wednesday morning’s incident as a free for all fight between two Konkomba farming communities, Yinyamba and Bariba.

Dozens of homes are said to have been set on fire.

The District Chief Executive for the Gushegu District, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini who confirmed the incident said police and military personnel have been deployed in the town.

He said a reinforcement police team from Yendi has also been dispatched to the area.

According to the DCE, the District Security Council (DISEC) had met with the two factions over two parcels of land and there was an agreement after a similar conflict erupted about three weeks ago where Yinyamba people attacked the Bariba community.

He said even though there was an agreement, the factions only got back to their villages and disagreed again after giving assurances to DISEC that they will leave those two lands.

He said there were two parcels of land and DISEC placed a ban on them.

“What has erupted now is a different parcel of land that they went for, not even the one they disputed over. So that is the problem”.

“We are on the ground and the security is trying to see if we can get them to arrest. They are in the bush and so it is difficult to just move there and effect an arrest. So they are doing their intelligence work and when we get them they will be brought to book,” Alhaji Fuseini said.
