Drivers academy trains Metro Mass
The National Drivers’ Academy (NDA) has begun a nationwide training for all Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) bus drivers.

The Ministry of Transport, National Roads Safety Commission (NRSC), Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and Government Technical Training Centre (GTTC) have given their full backing and support to the refresher course.
It is supported by the collaborative efforts of Good Year, Rana Motors and Vulco.
Explaining why his outfit was providing the support, the Managing Director of Good Year Tyres, Mr Vinay Kapoor, said: “We at Good Year Tyres are very delighted to be associated with this important national activity to provide training and refresher course for Metro Mass Bus Drivers and other commercial vehicle drivers.
“We believe that if drivers, especially commercial drivers, are frequently given refresher courses like this one, it will go a long way to reduce road crashes in the country”.
Good Year and Rana Motors have provided initial logistic support for the programme and have indicated that they will provide further resources to shore up the activities of the National Drivers’ Academy.
Explaining the course contents to the media, the Executive Director of NDA, Mr Etse Ladzekpo ,said: “MMTL and other commercial transport operators should be encouraged to take driver refresher courses to enhance their professional conduct and improve their customer relations in order to stem the incessant and needless deaths and injuries on Ghana’s roads.”
At the commencement of the programme, Mr Noble John Appiah, the new Managing Director of MMTL, said drivers and conductors would be expected to work as a team to address the poor image that the public may have had about them.

He said the training initiative signified a new beginning for all MMTL drivers, which should contribute towards the reduction in road fatalities and damage to the company’s fleet of buses.
