Over 50 participants including female coaches who took part in the course were taken through the rules of the game, practical drills and theoretical knowledge of various technical aspects of the game of Ultimate.

They were also taken through the various aspects and stages of a special project which seeks to establish four disc sports clubs in all the 16 countries in the country.

The president of GFDA, Mr Desmond Mantey told the various regional association chairpersons that the event is to enhance the technical knowledge of the regional coaches in the sport.

He noted that the introduction of the game in Ghana will promote youth and girls’ development in diverse ways and charged regional heads to put in the effort to ensure that the game gets to the grassroots.

“The disc sports games has the potential to nurture elite athletes capable of winning laurels for themselves and mother Ghana and as such serious efforts must be attached to the project, he stated.

GFDA received its provisional recognition from the National Sports Authority (NSA) in January and has expanded the size and scope of its developmental milestones in the regions of Ghana.

The workshop was facilitated by volunteer coaches from the USA and Germany
