There will be no show for Ghana at the world event for the second successive time despite earlier attempts to have sprinter, Susanna Acolatse, represent the country.

According to the GNA, financial difficulties have made it impossible for the athletics federation to send 16-year-old Susanna to the global gathering of youth athletes in the Ukrainian capital.

Bawa Fuseini, General Secretary of Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), told the GNA their initial plan fell through when Acolatse’s parents failed to raise the required funds to enable them to accompany the sprinter who was considered a minor.

“She has a very high prospect so we entered her to represent us and her parents agreed,” Bawa said.

“At 16-years, Susanna is already registering 11.8 seconds in the 100 metres, which compared to some of our senior and experienced athletes, is very good.

“Her parents, however, informed us later that they were unable to gather enough money to enable them to accompany her to Donetsk, since she was still a minor and would not be allowed to travel all by herself.”

The teenage sensation was registered to compete in the 100 metres event.
