Tema General Hospital gets support
The Tema General Hospital now has access to potable water following an intervention by the Royal Bank (TRB) Foundation.

The foundation responded to an appeal made by the hospital to help support it with a water treatment equipment to desalinate water in its borehole.
The facility, which was renovated at a cost of GH¢61,400 has the capacity to produce 1,000 gallons of water hourly. It also has a storage capacity of about 4,000 gallons.
Maintenance
The Chairman of the board of directors of the foundation, Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong, called on the management of the hospital to ensure the regular maintenance of the facility. He advised them to learn from other beneficiaries of the foundation on best maintenance practices.
He explained that the funds his outfit had invested into the rehabilitation of the facility could have been used to construct five boreholes to support other communities.
The Chairman observed that if the facility was effectively maintained by the hospital, it could provide them with water for the next 20 years.
According to him, the foundation decided to invest in water projects, because “we believed that water is life and therefore, as part of our social responsibility, had outlined a number of such projects to be executed across the country annually.”
Acceptance
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, thanked the TRB foundation for their kind gesture and entreated other corporate bodies to also extend support to the hospital.
He said the greatest challenge at the hospital was access to potable water and, therefore, described the bank’s intervention as timely.
The director further appealed to the government to provide the hospital with the needed infrastructure and equipment to function effectively.
