IPMC introduces solar printer

A new solar-powered, high-speed printer designed to improve the daily activities of institutions and businesses has been launched in Accra.

The printer, introduced into Ghana by Intercom Programming and Manufacturing Company (IPMC), has the capacity to print 150 copies per minute, with quality colour.

It was manufactured by RISO International, a printing solutions company.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, the Chief Executive Officer of IPMC, Mr Amar Deep S. Hari, said the product was meant to enhance education in Africa, while helping to address power challenges that hamper productivity in the office.

Product features

According to him, the printer served multifunctional purposes, such as printing, folding, stapling, binding, envelope wrapping and perfect binding that cuts down the cost of doing business.

“The product is intended to be eco-friendly, taking into consideration conditions in Africa, particularly Ghana, which is facing an energy crisis, to enable users to enjoy it,” he said.

Mr Amar said with the introduction of RISO printers, including the RISO ComColor series: EZ201, EZ571, CV3030 and Risolar KZ30, IPMC had demonstrated that it was dedicated to providing special products that addressed the peculiar needs of IT users in the country.

He said Ghana remained a sensitive market in Africa and needed to be given special preference that would meet the demands of organisations to enhance their productivity and meet deadlines.

RISO Africa

The Export Manager of RISO Africa, Mr Jason Rose, said the ComColor was the world’s fastest inkjet printer noted for printing upto 150 copies per minute at reliable speed, affordable cost and durability.

He said in most African countries, including South Africa, the introduction of the printer had improved teaching and learning in over 3,500 schools which had no electricity.
