Rotary Club renovates 37 Military Hospital Children’s Block
The Rotary Club of Accra-Airport has completed the first phase of renovation works on the Children’s Medical Block at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The completed works comprise a library, play area, mothers rest area and lockers, painting of the Children’s Ward and provision of air conditioners.

The second phase, which is expected to commence soon, will involve a makeover of the surgical unit of the block.

The President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport, Ms Abena Ababio, who handed over the finished works at the block to the management of the hospital yesterday, said the gesture was in agreement with the club’s objective to support maternal and child health.
She said the move also formed part of efforts by the club to support healthcare delivery nationwide, which the club viewed as a shared responsibility.
“If all stakeholders will play their role, we will have better healthcare infrastructure and services that will go to ensure that the population is healthy to play their part for accelerated socio-economic development,” she added.
According to Ms Ababio, the club undertook the project to also create a child-friendly environment and for patrons to go about their duties in comfort.
“Hospitals are not fun places, but as a society we can help make patients in our hospitals feel at home while they receive treatment,” she added.

The Commanding Officer of the 37 Military Hospital, Colonel Nii Adjah Obodai, commended the club for its kind gesture.
He expressed the hope that work on the second phase would be quickened and brought to early completion to bring relief to patients and families who patronised services at the Children’s Medical Block.
“Rotary club is a household name to the hospital because you have been supporting us over the years, for which we are grateful,” he said.
He appealed to other benevolent organisations and individuals to also come to the aid of the hospital as it still had challenges.
