Govt urged to pay more attention to commercial farming

The Chairman of the National Farmers Awards Winners, Mr Davies Narh Korboe has appealed to government to pay more attention to commercial farming in all policies and also support smallholder farmers to deal with the country’s food security problems.

This, he said will enable the country to achieve the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda and also enable commercial farmers to focus on industrialisation to help boost the country's economy.

Speaking to Graphic Online at the durbar grounds of the 34th National Farmers' Day celebration at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on the theme ‘Agriculture: Moving Ghana Beyond Aid”, Mr. Korboe intimated that given the needed support particularly feed for the poultry industry, that sector alone could transform the country from depending on aid to international trade thereby boosting the country‘s economy.

“Agriculture is the game changer, hence the need for us to use agriculture to move Ghana to the next level. Apart from God and the air that we breath, the next most important thing is food”.
