Under the agreement, the PUC, in collaboration with the LSBU, will offer undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in International Business Management and other professional courses in Ghana which will afford candidates the opportunity to become outright members of the ABE globally.

The agreement, which is a renewal of an earlier one signed between the PUC and ABE five years ago, is also expected to provide authorities of the three institutions the opportunity to concretise their efforts in establishing lasting relations that would see them carry out joint researches, especially in the field of business in Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK).

Signing ceremony

The Rector of the PUC, Apostle Dr Daniel O. Walker, appended his signature to the agreement, while the Dean of School of Business of the LSBU, Prof. Mike Molan, signed for the LSBU and a representative from the ABE, Mr Lone Munir, signed on behalf of the professional body.

The Vice Rector of the PUC and Board Chairman of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Prof. K.B. Omane-Antwi, who was selected to be the witness for the signing ceremony, also launched the five years of ABE on the campus of the PUC and awarded some students who excelled during their final year research works within the five-year period.

Industry related training

Briefing the Daily Graphic about the uniqueness of the programmes which would be run by PUC, Apostle Dr Walker said they would focus more on training which was industry related.

“These programmes are professional courses which are meant to prepare our students for the world market.

“The knowledge gained will also go a long way to equip them to become entrepreneurs and set up their own businesses”, he said.

On the type of education offered by the ABE, Apostle Dr Walker indicated that students were usually encouraged to start their own businesses even before completion of their courses.

According to him, it usually took candidates about three years to complete the ABE programme and that qualified him or her to top up for a masters programme in any university of their choice globally, especially in the UK, including the LSBU.

Global changes

In his address, Prof. Molan said all over the world, things were changing rapidly and required a well thought-out approach by graduates, especially in handling a lot of the challenges.

In his view, entrepreneurial education was the way to go in order to create jobs and reduce the global unemployment rate.

Prof. Molan also called for more collaboration between the developed and developing countries to help resolve global challenges.

For his part, Mr Munir called on graduates to be smart and think outside the box to be able to compete on the global market.

He assured prospective candidates of the ABE programmes that had been designed to “meet the global needs of students.”
