When MTN invaded Accra

IT was an amazing night of music and remarkable performances when the Polo Grounds, Accra hosted the Accra edition of the MTN Pulse Invasion last Friday.

The Pulse Invasion concept which is a youth focused initiative to provide them with more entertaining offers saw artistes billed to perform distribute fun after fun as they each mounted the beautifully  designed stage.

Their performances made up for the late start of the event which was scheduled to start at 4pm but eventually got underway at 8 pm.

It was a delight to watch Mzvee who came on stage and got the crowd screaming and singing along to her songs. She thrilled patrons and her cheeky dance moves just blew their minds.

Women On Fire hits Ho

THEATRE lovers in Ho had a good time last Saturday when Uncle Ebo Whyte’s play Women On Fire was staged at the Ho Polytechnic auditorium.

The play started exactly at 6:30 pm with performance from the crew which gave the audience a good laugh as the interesting scenes unfolded.

The play set in a typical Ghanaian market scene is centered around four strong female characters who display the diverse social background of women in society and highlight important societal issues.

When Sika’s husband, Mr. Johnson divorces her on false allegations of adultery, little did he know that years down the lane, she would lead an uprising threatening his job as the mayor of the city.

Campus Pluzz takes off

AS if it is not doing enough, Pluzz 89.9 FM has added a new radio show to its already exciting youth oriented programming called Campus Pluzz.

The new programme which began airing two weeks ago is already making waves on campuses.

Campus Pluzz, which airs every Saturday from 1pm to 3 pm and presented by Jay Kojo Dasebree, host of Campus Base TV on Viasat 1 TV will see the station reach out to more of its target audience made up of youth who are mainly students.

Since it hit the airwaves, Campus Pluzz has hosted singer and student MzVee, movie director and musician, Kobi Rana among others.

Miss Homofest’15 finalists ready for action 

These ladies are the 23 finalists of the Miss Homofest 2015 and they are set to outdo each other to grab the ultimate crown when the finals of the pageant comes off at the National Theatre tomorrow at 7pm.

The contestants represent 12 areas of Ga-Adangbe namely  La, Nungua, Teshie, Osu, Ada, Osudoku, Prampram, Kpone, Ningo, Shai, Tema and Ga Mashie.

The evening promises to be an exciting one. Miss Homofest 2015 will receive GHC2000 while the first and second runners up will take home GHc1,500 and Ghc1000 respectively. They will each be treated to a trip to any tourism site of their choice in the country.

All set for MTN Hitmaker 4 finals

The stage is now set for the final show down of MTN Hitmaker season 4 and the four finalists are also ready to sing, rap, and break out as they out do each other to grab the ultimate title as well as the juicy GH¢100,000 recording prize package come Wednesday, September 30, at the National Theatre .

The final four- Yaw, Abena, Kidi and CJ, since the competition started have set themselves apart from the pack. Abena, for instance, stole the hearts of the judges with her first performance and week in and week out, she delivered nothing short of their expectations.

When she performed Nicole Mullins’ My Redeemer Lives, she stamped her name all over the finals because she showed a vocal ability that was unmatched.

Sarkodie storms Legon with Mary

After a successful launch and autograph signing session of his latest album, Mary, recently, Sarkodie is set to perform all the tracks from the album at a concert on Saturday, September 26, at the International Student Hostel(ISH) car park at Legon.

The akwaaba party dubbed, Fresh ‘A’ Affair, being put together by Echo House Ghana and Tonaton.con will also feature Joey B, Pappy Kojo, MzVee, Episode, Mr Eazi among others.

Thrills at Celebration of His Grace

Every year since 2007, gospel artiste, Bernard Amankwah, and His Presence Ministry choir take patrons of their Celebration of His Grace concert to the throne of grace and last Sunday was no different when this year’s edition of the concert came off at the National Theatre.

MTN Pulse invades Kumasi­

 He put up an electrifying performance at the MTN Pulse Invasion concert in Kumasi on Saturday and had the crowd asking for more even as his act ended.

Stonebwoy’s energy and stagecraft, not to talk of his ‘flow’ of Patoi  and his creative free-style marked an evening of awe-inspiring show hosted at the Royal Parade Grounds at KNUST, Kumasi .

Panji, others show creativity at ‘Akwaabytes’

He studied Mechanical Engineering at university but music producer and recording engineer, Panji Anoff, has worked almost exclusively in the arts since graduation and one of his audio explorations will be part of the Akwaabytes art exhibition slated to come off from Friday October 2, to October 8 at Icon House, Stanbic Heights at Airport City in Accra.

Concert in aid of Sugar Project

Joy FM in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Airport present The Live Band Pop Chain All-Star Concert at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra on Sunday, September 20 to raise money for the Joy FM Sugar Project.

Artistes scheduled to perform at the 4.00pm show include Kari Bannerman, Jojo Yates, Enos Edu, Bessa Simons, Ben Brako and more.

+233 hosts Wiyaala and band

Energetic performer, Wilaaya is set to sell a first-rate concert to music fans at a concert on Saturday, September 19 at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.

She will be backed at the 9.00pm show by her Djimba World Band. The Wa-born singer has caught international attention of late and travels abroad regularly to engagements.

’Twas bad day for Teen Choice awards

Contrary  to the high expectations patrons of this year’s Ghana Teen Choice Awards had anticipated, the show turned out to be a row of disappointments when the second edition of the event came off at the National Theatre last Saturday.

It must have been a bad day not just for the organisers, Silver Network Ltd, but the patrons who had to endure not just a three hour delay for  the show to commence but a series of  poor co-ordination when the show eventually rolled at 6 pm.

At the advertised time of 3: 00 pm, the auditorium was virtually empty and even that, the few patrons were instead asked to wait outside.

Bernard launches I’m Redeemed

Gospel artiste, Bernard Amankwah, who for the past eight years has blessed lovers of gospel music with his annual Celebration of His Grace concert, is set to release his latest album, I’m Redeemed at this year’s event scheduled for the National Theatre on Sunday, September 20.

The five-track album which has songs such as I’m Redeemed, Come to Jesus, Hossana, Wo YƐ Onyame, and YƐ ka Bia Tie was recorded at the Titled Track Studios and mastered and engineered by Zapp Mallet.

Backed by His Presence Ministry choir on all the songs, Bernard, known for songs including His Presence and Mercy Rescue Me made his strong presence felt as he used the platform to address many important issues relevant to the life of Christians.

Freddy Meiway for African Legends Night

One of Africa’s finest music act, Freddy Meiway, is set to thrill his fans in Ghana once again to some eclectic performances when he headlines this year’s African Legend Nights which is expected to come off at the Banquet Hall, State House on Saturday, September 26.

The event, which has in the past given old folks the opportunity to wine, dine and reminisce the old times  will also feature highlife legends, Amakye Dede and Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Akosua Agyepong and Trigmatic.

According to the organisers, Global Media Alliance, Freddy Meiway, who is best known for his Zoblazo dance moves which made waves in Ghana in the 90s, is ready to “put the old times on wheel”.

Mary-Jane coming for Celestial Praize

Mary-Jane Matodzi, a former lead singer with the acclaimed South African gospel group, Joyous Celebration, will be the special guest performer at Celestine Donkor’s fifth Celestial Praize concert scheduled for Monday, September 21, at the Tesano Baptist Church in Accra.

An annual worship music event to help deepen the spirit of appreciation in Christian lives, Celestial Praize has gradually matured into a show cheerfully patronised by people from various Christian backgrounds.
