Tough test for Wa All Stars

Premier League leaders, Wa All Stars, face a strong test to maintain their position at the summit of the league when they travel to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to lock horns with Kumasi Asante Kotoko in their week 17 fixture today.

All Stars maintained their lead, courtesy a lone goal victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Wa Stadium last Sunday, and must win against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Porcupine’s fortress if they want to remain on top.

However, with a side that are determined to return to winning ways after drawing 1-1 with Techiman City last Sunday, the Porcupine Warriors will be up for a revenge against All Stars who beat them by a lone goal in their first leg encounter in Wa.

Kotoko will, therefore, play their hearts out not only to appease their fans in Kumasi, but also to catch up with arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, who occupy the second spot with two points difference.

A win for Kotoko could see them move ahead of Hearts if the Phobians lose to bogey side Liberty Professionals at the Accra Stadium.

However, after a narrow win against Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts are likely to avenge their first leg defeat against the soccer professionals.

The match will ignite fireworks because after losing to Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast last Sunday, Liberty will fight to return to winning ways.

Of much interest is the encounter between Premier League title hopefuls, Aduana Stars, who will welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to Dormaa Ahenkro after losing 1-2 to Bechem United last Sunday.

Currently placed fourth with 26 points Aduana will hope to beat a resurgent Dwarfs side, who are looking forward to reviving their campaign in order to avoid being relegated.

Relegation-threatened defending champions, Ashgold, will welcome 10th placed Techiman City to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium after losing 1-2 to WAFA at Sogakope last Sunday.

In the other matches, Dreams FC clash with New Edubiase at Dawu, Sekondi Hasaacas will welcome Bechem United to the Essipon stadium, with Berekum Chelsea battling for the points at stake when they meet Inter Allies at the Golden City Park.
