Okwawu fans to invade Kumasi
Supporters of Okwawu United are reportedly planning a massive invasion
of the Ashanti Region where their beloved side begin another search for a
return to the premiership this weekend.
Okwawu, winners of Zone 3B, will play Danbort FC, Nania FC and Inter
Allies at Obuasi and in Kumasi between June 1 and June 8 in Zone 3 of
the Division One Middle League.
Zone 1, which comprises Guan United, Yassin FC, Bechem United and B.A.
United will be based in Cape Coast and Sekondi, while Zone 2 which will
have Hasaacas, Tarkwa United, Gold Stars and either Metro Stars or
Eleven Wise, will be based in Accra and Tema.
Indeed, controversy still rages in Zone 2 where Wise have lodged an
appeal against a Disciplinary Committee ruling which asked them to
replay a game against Brighton Stars in an empty stadium.
For Okwawu United, their campaign is being shouldered by striker Ezekiel
Tetteh, who has emerged as the latest sensation in the Division One
League.
Tetteh, 21, who joined Okwawu in the second session of the league, has
so far scored four goals in seven matches in Zone 3B to win the title
ahead of this weekend’s Middle League.
The six-foot plus player now carries a huge burden to end the club’s
eight years absence from Ghana’s Premier League and to become the only
representatives from the Eastern Region in the premiership.
