PPP pledges to increase Eastern Region votes in 2016 Election
The Eastern regional branch of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) has elected a new executive to run the affairs of the party.

In an election supervised by the Electoral Commission, Mr Kwaku Fredua Agyeman was elected as chairman. He defeated his closest rival, Mr David Terkper, with 674 votes to 516.
The position of first Vice Chairman went to Madam Eva Obessey Acquah while Hayford Odartey became the new organiser.
Madam Rosaline Cofie, who was elected the women's organiser, overwhelmingly defeated Miss Rose Ankomah with 818 votes as against 337. Charles Kyei was elected the assistant organiser when he polled 690 votes to beat Abraham Kwao, who had 504.
Some personalities were elected unopposed. They are Madam Rose Amankwah, secretary; Isaac Parplus Odamtey, assistant secretary; Francisca Frimpong, assistant women's organiser; Linus Daniel Frimpong, youth organiser; and Prince Menyah, assistant youth organiser.
The rest are Rita Sarpong, treasurer and Amos Nkansah, communication and education director.
In all, a total of 87 ballots were rejected.
In an acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman, Mr Fredua Agyeman, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work assiduously to ensure that the PPP would win the 2016 general election.
He said the party was putting measures in place to increase its votes in 2016 and, therefore, called on its supporters to not despair but rather rally behind the leadership of the party to change the face of politics in the country.
