They requested that the First Lady gave out some of the paintings as her Christmas gifts to individuals and organisations she wished to acknowledge this festive season.

Children and creative art

Receiving the artworks, Mrs Akufo-Addo called for deepened interest and engagement in the creative arts at the early childhood stages.

She said the move would open up accessibility to the diverse forms of the sector and build up formative interests of children towards professional careers in future.

According to her, increased engagement in the creative arts on the part of children could create opportunities for them and also generate income and revenue for the country.

The First Lady pledged that the paintings and other artworks presented to her, which she described as “beautiful”, would be given to the donors of the Rebecca Foundation, of which she is the Executive Director, during this festive season to be displayed on their premises.

Mrs Akufo-Addo also used the opportunity to wish all Ghanaian children the best this yuletide and a happy new year in advance.
