GES Director-General visits PLC workshop centres in Volta Region

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr Eric Nkansah, visited the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) workshop centres at the E.P.C. Mawuko Girls Senior High School and Sogakope SHS last Friday.

The workshops in the Volta Region, which was for the southern sector of the country, marked the beginning of such in a series of PLC workshops across the country which started on November 6 and would be rounding up on November 24, 2023.

The PLC training began with the coming together of 320 master facilitators from all 16 regions, with support from the National Council of Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) and the National Teaching Council (NTC).

This was followed by school-level PLC workshops across the Greater Accra, Eastern, Central, Western, Western North, Volta and Oti regions.

 In all, 1,435 school-level coordinators from SHS, SHTS and STEM schools attended the workshop.

These school-level coordinators received training on the PLC Handbook Two on the New Standards-Based Curriculum for all SHS/SHTS/ STEM schools.

Training for the northern and middle sectors started last Monday, November 20 and will end on November 24, 2023.

 It involves 1,350 school-level coordinators from the Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Northern, Savannah, North East, Upper East and Upper West regions.

The training is a follow-up to the successful roll-out of the PLC Handbook One which took place in May 2023.
