Solid Foundation Prep. School organises Speech Day

The Solid Foundation Preparatory School at Bibiani-Hwenampori in the Western Region has held its maiden Speech and Prize-giving Day with a call on all schoolchildren to develop the habit of reading to help broaden their knowledge and horizons.

The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman of the school, Nana Kwame Boadi, who made the call, explained that if children read a lot of books in addition to their lessons in the classroom, it would help them build a wide vocabulary so that they can read and write well and perform brilliantly in school.

Nana Boadi asked children to desist from watching television programmes which did not benefit them but rather devote more time to studying at home.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Isaac Nipa, urged parents to visit the school regularly to enquire about the performance of their children so that they would be able to assist them to improve on their academic performance.

During the celebration, the children enacted a play entitled, “The wicked stepmother” in which they asked stepmothers to treat their stepchildren with love and care.

The schoolchildren recited poems, Bible quotations, sang various songs and had choreography displays.
They also danced to different Ghanaian music to the delight of their parents and teachers.
