While new artiste, Nii Funny, is gaining attention with his latest single, Broken Heart, aka Yooko Ebreaki Mi, he is equally receiving public backlash for it too for its perceived suggestive lyrics.

The song, sang in Ga has become very popular and its hook, Yooko Ebreaki Mi, has caught on well with the youth due to its risque content and it seems that is the new fame Nii Funny is riding on.

Broken Heart produced by Spanky, is a fast-paced danceable hiplife tune which tells the sad story of a young man who spends lavishly on his girlfriend but unknown to him, the lady does not love him but just plays along to milk him. He later finds out the motive of the lady and this breaks his heart.

But the young artiste has denied  the song is profane and promotes promiscuity. Talking to Showbiz on Monday, he said, “I am talking about breaking someone’s heart and not breaking one’s virginity as many people have interpreted the song to mean.  And I insist women are also guilty of breaking the hearts of women”, he said.

According to Nii Funny, real name Nii Adey Funny Ankrah, “ when a woman breaks the heart of a man, he does not complain to everyone, we cry in our hearts secretly. But when a man breaks the heart of a woman, everyone hears about it and make  men look bad in the eyes of the world. It is happening everyday and this is what I wanted to draw people’s attention to”, he added.

Known for other songs such as Goliath, My Life and T-OT-O, Nii Funny is gaining popularity in areas such as Gamashi, La, Osu, James Town, Teshie, Nungua and Tema because of the typical Ga style he has adopted.

Despite the ‘controversy’ surrounding his song, Nii Funny who is under the management of Halifax Entertainment says he is happy with the good reception Broken Heart is enjoying since its official release in July this year.
