The competition, which is being sponsored by GREL and Oneness Taekwondo Club, is expected to attract both male and female Taekwondo practitioners who will compete in the male and female divisions.

There will be four weight categories for males, three weight categories for females and two weight category for second cycle schools.

Briefing the Daily Graphic on the tournament, the chairman of the Western Region Taekwondo Association, Frank Famiyeh, said this was the first time his outfit was organising the open championship.

He said he was hopeful that participants would prove their worth to make the championship a success, adding that the positive impact of the maiden competition would help enhance the organisation and participation of next year’s competition.

He, therefore, urged participants to take the competition seriously.

“Registration for participants ends on November 25 and weigh-in will also take place two days after and so interested Taekwondo participants must take note,” he said.
