Prez back on campaign trail
President John Dramani Mahama resumed his campaign tour yesterday and has urged the electorate to have confidence in him to take the nation to another level.

President Mahama says his track record clearly demonstrates his capabilities, and, therefore, any person who says Ghanaians should try him as President must not be taken seriously.
"God is on our side, and I have the strongest conviction that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the election," he told a teeming crowd of party supporters at a rally at Yeji in the Pru East Constituency from where he kicked off his tour of the Brong Ahafo Region.
He likened himself to players like Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew and asked: "If you have such players in your team and the team is going to play in the World Cup and someone with no experience comes to say he wants to replace them, will that be accepted?"
The enthusiastic crowd responded, "No, no, no."
The President will visit a number of constituencies in the Brong Ahafo Region.
President Mahama said the performance of his government in the first term had proved that he was a tried and tested leader who should be re-elected.
He said in spite of the almost one year that was wasted as a result of the presidential election petition, the government rose to the occasion to lay a solid foundation for socio-economic advancement.
In the area of roads, electricity, water, education, among other sectors, the President said a lot had been done.
With the strong foundation laid, he said, his second term would place emphasis on job creation, which would put money in the pockets of the people.
President Mahama stated that the proposed Economic Transformation and Livelihood Empowerment Programme (ETLEP) would drive his second term delivery.
Pru faithfulness
President Mahama said Pru had been faithful to the NDC since the 1992 election and promised that the government would never disappoint the people.
He mentioned some of the numerous development projects that had been undertaken in the area under the NDC and promised more during his second term.
Yeji, which the President described as the headquarters of canoe fishing in the country, would be supported to develop the industry.
He said 350 brand new outboard motors had been ordered by the government and that canoe owners in the area would benefit from the distribution.
He also stated that a new cold store would be constructed at Yeji.
President Mahama also addressed a similar rally at Prang.
Omanhene praises government
Earlier, the President paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Yeji, Pemampem Yaw Kagberese, who expressed his appreciation to the President for the numerous development projects his government had provided for the traditional area.
He said President Mahama had been a worthy leader.
