The items included 13 deep freezers, 46 sewing machines, 21 hairdryers, 140 maxi bags of maize, 70 bags of rice and GHc300 each to 50 other beneficiaries.

Mr Bannerman also unveiled the James Town Football Club, which was presented with track suits and football boots as part of the sponsorship package.

Beneficiaries of Mr Bannerman’s senior and junior high school extra and remedial classes were also presented with 5,000 mathematical sets.

The beneficiaries presented a citation to commend the NPP aspirant for his support which had enabled some of them to qualify for the free senior high school.

Presentation

Presenting the items, Mr Bannerman said he believed in emancipating the people from poverty and ignorance through economic empowerment and education, hence the decision to provide the cash, electronic and food items as well as the free classes.

He explained that those who wanted to learn trade benefited from the hairdryers and sewing machines while those who were engaged in the selling of kenkey and banku as well as those who were involved in the sale of rice were also given the maize and rice respectively.

He said the deep freezers were for those engaged in selling iced water and other things while the capital went to those who wanted to start a trade.

Mr Bannerman, who described his move as a deliberate strategy by the “Bannerman acting the Bannerman way” added that a team of business people would also follow up to help the people grow their business and expand.

Launching

Officially launching the Bannerman Foundation, the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Mohammed Adjei Sowah, said Mr Bannerman through his foundation had been supporting the people in the Odododiodoo constituency for some time now.

He urged the people to consider the great support Mr Bannerman had been providing even when he was not an MP and vote for him because he would definitely increase the support when he was given the opportunity.

He assured them that the Nana Akufo-Addo administration would continue to come out with policies and programmes that would benefit the poor and the vulnerable.
