Significance

The Chief Learning Officer of the Akuse VRA Academy, Mr Eric Mensah Bonsu, stressed the need for organisations to ensure quality output of employees by offering them the necessary skills in their chosen areas of specialisation.

He said apart from skills acquisition, the engineers were also taken through networking and relationship building.

According to him, the training was necessary to raise the technical expertise of the staff on the job and urged them to “always take such opportunities to learn more on the job to improve on yourselves’’.

Advice

The Director, Southern Networks Services of GRIDCo, Ing. Norbert Anku, said the new employees should make effective use of the lessons acquired at the school by making them reflect on their work to improve on the fortunes of the company.

The Director of Hydro Generation at the VRA, Ing. Charles De Bordes,  advised the graduates to be innovative and always humble themselves to enable them to tap the experiences of their seniors to improve on themselves.

Appreciation

On behalf of his colleague graduates, a senior electrical engineer of GRIDCo, Mr Ebenezer Odoom-Sagoe, explained that the training was in line with management’s resolve to enhance the capacity of staff, in line with international best practices, and expressed appreciation to the company for its efforts.

According to him, the training, which comprised both theory and cutting-edge practicals, would immensely improve on their competencies to enable them to discharge their duties more effectively and efficiently.

He expressed the hope that the VRA management would continue to place premium on the training of staff to help upgrade their skills for them to give their best to the growth of the company.

Present at the ceremony were Mr George Nipah, the General Manager of GRIDTel; Mr Daniel Amartey, the acting Director, Network Performance Department; Mrs Esther Mangotey, the acting Director, Human Resource Department, both of GRIDCo, and Ing.
