Beneficiaries of the donation exercise were the Brepaw Peti Presby Basic School, Brepaw Upper Presby and the Kumakuma Anglican School at Asesewa.

Some of the items presented to the beneficiaries included customised exercise books, pens, pencils and other stationery, and also used clothing.

The Founder of Dress a Kid Foundation, Mr Attah- Effah Badu, told GraphicOnline that the donation was part of their effort to encourage pupils to stay in school and learn to become prominent and responsible leaders.

The Foundation is an online charity group with a mission to assemble clothes and shoes and donate them to children in deprived communities.

Mr Attah-Effah Badu said that the foundation operated on the principle of "being our brother's helper", adding that they believed people in the villages were as important as those in the cities.

The headteacher of Kumakuma Anglican primary school, Mr Tetteh Fred Teye, expressed his profound gratitude to the members of the foundation.

“It is timely because it’s a new academic year and the parents don’t have money to support”, Mr Teye added.

According to him, the pupils write on the floor because they do not have books or slates to write on and the parents do not help their children - a development he said had posed a great challenge to the teachers.

Mr Teye said that the school lacked some basic items, like computers, which he said made teaching and learning difficult.

He bemoaned the fact that the community lacked electricity although it is a stone's throw away from the country’s power generating source in Akosombo.

Mr Sam Martey, a teacher and assembly man of Kumakuma Electoral Area, also expressed concern about the teacher’s refusal to report to their place of posting.

He also said that the school did not benefit from the school feeding program, which he said was another reason many of the children in the community absented themselves from school.

Mr Martey observed that those teachers refused to come to their place of posting due to the low development of the community and expressed hope that the government would do something fast to enable the children learn faster.
