Indian society donates to hole-in-heart boy

A Ghana based Indian philanthropic society, The DDG Charitable Trust, has donated an amount of $6,000 towards the surgery of two-year-old Solomon Obeng.

The amount, which is an equivalent of GH₵36,000 was received by the Head of the National Cardiothoracic Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Dr Lawrence Sereboe.

The renowned heart surgeon thanked the NGO and the Indian community for their support.

Solomon Obeng, who hails from Cape Coast, has been diagnosed with a hole- in-heart and is expected to undergo surgery in the first week of March.

DDG Charitable Trust

The NGO is the brain child of 10 Indian trustees who founded it to support social causes and charitable works in Ghana.

In 2018, the NGO paid a similar amount to help with the surgery of another child at the National Cardiothoracic Centre in Accra.

The group is currently supporting the construction of extra classrooms and lavatories for schoolchildren of the Memia township and sinking a borehole for the town in the Western Region.
