A statement issued by the hospital and signed by the Chief Executive, Dr Joseph Akpaloo, said there were reports that some unscrupulous persons yet to be identified were going round collecting various sums of money from people under the pretext of securing them jobs at the hospital.

“Management of the hospital wishes to place on record that it is not recruiting new staff and that even in the event of recruitment, the hospital does not take money from job applicants,” the statement said.

It said it has not sanctioned the collection of money from prospective job seekers and it should be regarded "as a criminal act."

Management of the hospital has, therefore called persons who may have fallen victim to the scam to report to the hospital authorities for onward action.

The statement cautioned that persons who pay money with the intention of securing jobs at the hospital do so at their own risk.

The affected persons are to report such cases to the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Administration and the Public Relations Officer for the necessary action to be taken.
