Parents urged to invest in children’s education

The Director in charge of Pre-Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Mrs Catherine Agyapomaa Appiah-Pinkrah, has urged parents and guardians to invest more in the education of their children.

She said quality education called for sacrifice, stressing that investing in the education of the child was necessary to address child delinquency, and other irresponsible behaviour on the part of children who did not have proper upbringing.

Mrs Appiah-Pinkrah gave the advice at the third graduation ceremony of the Crystal Height International School at Shikpontele near Amasaman, in the Greater Accra Region. It was on the theme:  ‘Counting the Cost of Quality Education in the 21st Century’.

Shared responsibility

She said education was a shared responsibility and that a country that failed to develop its people intellectually faced the challenge of opting out of the ‘global village’ where knowledge and transformation were the order of the day.

She also urged all private institutions to adopt the new curriculum introduced by the Ministry of Education, saying it was part of efforts to transform the educational system of teaching and learning.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Emmanuel Entsie-Dadzie, commended parents for supporting the school and investing in their children's education.
