Christians mark Palm Sunday
Christians yesterday marked Palm Sunday across the country to usher in a week of activities towards the Easter celebration.

Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, comes exactly a week before Easter Sunday, the day Christians mark as the ressurection of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, following his crucifixion on the cross.
Alberto Mario Noretti reports from Ho-Kpodzi that some churches in Ho took part in hilarious street processions to mark Palm Sunday.
Members of the congregation at the Dela Cathedral of the E.P. Church, Ghana (EPCG) at Ho Kpodzi, waving palm branches, marched from the chapel through Ho-Dome, Ho-Hliha, Ho-Ahoe, and Ho-Heve before returning to the chapel, amid brass band music and loud renditions with joy.
Meanwhile, some vehicles carrying palm branches, tooted their horns on the roads in team spirit with the Christians, adding a carnival touch to the celebration.
Palm Sunday commemorates the Christian belief in the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, when he was greeted by cheering crowds waving palm branches that they lay on the ground along his path.

In a sermon, the Chaplain of Mawuko Girls Senior High School, Ho, Rev G.K. Dabi, said Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem signified victory for all Christians.
He said although Jesus was pure, he gave himself out to be sacrificed for the sins of all mankind.
That, he said, should inspire Christians to be united in Christ and to love one another all the time.
Rev. Dabi urged Christians to spearhead the crusade for peace in society by living in harmony with one another.
The Gbawe Methodist Church observed Palm Sunday with the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr Paul K. Boafo, yesterday reports, Mary Owusu Asamoah.
The church was charged and filled up with palm fronds in and outside the auditorium. Most Rev. Dr Paul K. Boafo preached on the theme Hosanna, Lord, save us now. He explained that Hosanna meant ‘Save us now’.
“In an effort to deliver Ghana from evil and corruption”, Rev. Boafo called on believers to pray to Jesus and sing hallelujah so that His peace would be the portion of the country.
Speaking to the media, he said that Christians must follow Jesus Christ, our Lord, through his trial, death and resurrection, beginning from Palm Sunday.
