This comes after his rival Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai says he's confident of victory in the elections of July 31st election despite a lack of political reforms.

Tsvangirai was addressing thousands of party supporters at the official launch of the party’s 2013 election manifesto and party campaigns on Sunday.

This will make it Tsvangirai's third attempt to oust long time incumbent President Mugabe. He believes that Mugabe has maintained an iron grip on power through vote rigging and violence.

Zimbabweans are set to go to the polls on July 31st before key reforms are in place to level the playing field.

Tsvangirai says he will participate in those polls with a heavy heart. "What we have witnessed over the last few weeks is an attempt to rob the elections of legitimacy before it has even begun."

The MDC leader is hoping to tap into widespread discontent over unemployment, which is as high as 80 percent.

Tsvangirai has also promised that after years of isolation over Mugabe's human rights abuses, he will return Zimbabwe as a participant in the international community, to much needed lines of credit to resuscitate the stagnant economy.

The manifesto also unveiled promises of one million jobs over five years, free primary education and free maternity healthcare within three months of office.

"We have the choice of ending the year on a high note. We the modern people must entrust the country to a younger generation and we are the generation to take this country forward."
