Speaking at a media encounter in Parliament Thursday, June 18, 2020, the Majority Leader said the best way to know if one is safe from the virus is to schedule a third round of testing.

He was of the view that a person who has tested negative to the virus is more prone to the virus than one who has recovered from the disease.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu explained that one who has tested positive and recovered acquires more anti-bodies to resist the virus for a year and that the best way to be sure of one’s status is to conduct another round of test since he does not want to be affected.

“I think it's important that we have a third one, so that we would be clear in our minds that we are free. I have tested negative on two occasions but it doesn’t mean that I’m outside the realm of the infection. If you have it and recover, a good thing for you then. It means that you have succeeded in building sufficient anti-bodies and that for the next one year, you would be able to resist it. But if I test negative on two, three occasions, all that it means is that I have not come into contact with the virus. I may not be resilient, I may be conquered easily if I have the infection. I don’t intend to catch it”, he explained.
