The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly has honoured the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare for the support she provided to residents of the municipality at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah together with the Assembly members and Heads of the Department of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly visited the Flagstaff House to present a citation to the Chief of Staff on May 28, 2020.

Presenting the citation on behalf of the Assembly to the Chief of Staff, Mrs Owusu Ahinkorah explained that the presentation was in recognition of her achievement and good leadership especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hon. Owusu-Ahinkorah said while the nation was in lockdown, Mrs Osei-Opare supported vulnerable residents within the municipality with 500 packs of assorted food each day.

She added that this gesture helped to reduce the negative impact of the lockdown on residents.

Accepting the citation, the Chief of Staff expressed gratitude to the Assembly and residents of the Ayawaso West municipality for the honour.

She mentioned that as a former two-term MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon she is aware of groups of people who have no means of cooking their own food because they have no cooking utensils or coal pots.

She also assured that she will continue to assist the Assembly.
