He was sentenced to 15 years each on the charges of conspiracy and robbery and the jail term is to run concurrently.

Badasu’s accomplice, whose name was only given as Bortey, is currently on the run.

Prosecution’s facts
The facts as presented by the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Benson Benneh, were that on November 22, 2019, the pharmacist, who is the complainant in the case, reported to the police that he had been attacked in his room by two men wielding a machete and a mallet.

The two broke into the complainant’s room by damaging the main wooden door and succeeded in robbing him of GH¢2,595, two mobile phones and his official Toyota Corolla.

After lodging the complaint, the pharmacist mentioned that there was a tracker fixed in the stolen car and he was immediately made to contact his company for the car to be tracked.

The prosecutor told the court that the police patrol team was furnished with locations of the car and with the complainant and witness, the car was tracked to Osu near the old American Embassy at about 2:20 a.m. where the convict was spotted with the car and arrested.

“The car was found without number plates with the "PHARMANOVA" company's logo embossed on both front doors of the car completely defaced with filler and painted by Badasu.

“The car was towed and Badasu was escorted to the Sakumono Police Station for investigations,” he said.

He noted that the convict denied the offences in his statement to the police and mentioned the other suspect as his source of the car.
