Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Gordon Yaw Saah, who is the Chief Staff Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), has been enstooled as the Gyaasehene of Akyem Swedru and the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area under the stool name Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri.
A colourful traditional ceremony, held at Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, attracted a large gathering of traditional rulers, government officials, senior officers of the Ghana Immigration Service, family members, friends and well-wishers.
The enstoolment rites were performed by Okotwasuo Kantamanto Owrae Agyekum III, Paramount Chief and President of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Council, assisted by the kingmakers and members of the Traditional Council.
Among the traditional leaders who attended the ceremony were Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II, Paramount Chief of Effutuakwa Okumanan; Dr. Nana Baffour Appiah Frimpong, Tepa Twafohene, representing the Tepa Manhene; Obrempong Ofosu Asante Kodan II-Akyem Bosome Akwamuhene; Obrempong Twum Barima Teabɔfrɛ; Obrempong Ayim Mmoronsam II, Nifahene and Akyeamehene of Akyem Bosome; Osabarima Kwakye Marfo Ahenkorah II, Chief of Akyem Kotokuom; Osabarima Oppong Kyekyeku, Chief of Batabi; Nii Kinkanksu Musah Nsor, Ablekuma Joma Zongo Chief, Nana Akua Ago - Gyaasehemaa Akyem Swedru; Nana Krampah Kumah Nkownah I- Akyempemhemaa of Akyem Aperade as well as several other chiefs and queen mothers.
A delegation from the Ghana Immigration Service, led by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Finance and Administration, Evelyn L. Lotsu, attended the ceremony on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Immigration and the Management of the Service.
In his acceptance address, Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri expressed appreciation to the Paramount Chief, the kingmakers and the people of Akyem Bosome for the honour bestowed on him. He pledged to serve with humility, integrity, fairness and dedication, while continuing to discharge his duties with professionalism as an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service.
He also committed himself to supporting the socio-economic development of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area, promoting peace and unity, and working closely with traditional authorities, government institutions and development partners to improve the welfare of the people.
The ceremony featured traditional rites, colourful cultural performances, drumming and dancing, and goodwill messages from chiefs, dignitaries and invited guests, who congratulated the newly enstooled Gyaasehene and prayed for wisdom, good health and a successful reign.
The enstoolment of Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri is expected to strengthen the traditional governance structure of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area and enhance collaboration between traditional authorities and public institutions in advancing local development.
