The management of No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel says it has filed an appeal against last Tuesday's Accra High Court order granting permission for a Receiver to seize businessman Cheddar's huge, aesthetically pleasing, and imposing white building located next to the Dankwa Circle at Osu in Accra.
The issue concerns the appointment of a Receiver to take possession of the property, which is at the centre of a debt issue on which the High Court of England and Wales has already ruled.
The latest development follows earlier proceedings connected to the enforcement in Ghana of the judgment in favour of Cola Holdings Limited.
In a press release issued on Thursday (July 23, 2026), Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited (KRP1), the company that manages the hotel, said it had taken note of media reports concerning the High Court's July 21 order granting police assistance to Cola Holdings Limited and its appointed Receiver.
It said it was still maintaining the hotel and it continues to operate while the legal process continues.
According to KRP1, the hotel remains under the control and possession of its management and directors.
The company said it had instructed its lawyers to challenge the court's decision and had filed an appeal together with applications seeking interim relief pending the determination of the appeal.
KRP1 further stated that, in its view, the High Court's order is not yet enforceable because the period prescribed under the applicable court rules has not expired. That position has not been determined by an appellate court.
The company also said there are other related proceedings between the parties arising from the enforcement of a security interest over the property, some of which remain before the courts.
In its release, KRP1 urged the public to await the outcome of the pending legal proceedings and not to draw conclusions from ongoing litigation.
"Oxford No. 1 Hotel remains open for business," the statement concluded.
The appeal relates to the High Court's order granting police assistance to Cola Holdings Limited and its appointed Receiver. The outcome of the appeal and any related applications will be determined by the courts.
