Kumkum Burga not copycat of Kumkum Bhagya
Even before movie producer Jacobs Owusu Cole could release his new movie Kumkum Burga, he has come under attack for trying to ride on the popular TV series Kumkum Bhagya.

“I released the poster of my movie Kumkum Burga two weeks ago and Ghanaians are already passing not too pleasant comments about me being a copycat, not creative and lazy” he told Showbiz in an interview last week.
Obviously, Cole who is not pleased with the comments explained that he had been working with the name Kumkum Burga well before Kumkum Bhagya came on the scene.
“I know a lot of Ghanaians will argue with me on this but I had the name Kumkum Burga way back before Kumkum Bhagya started showing.
“ I have been working on this movie since 2013 but it is quite unfortunate the TV series came out before my movie” he said.
According to Cole who lived in India for five years and claims to speak Indian languages Hindi and Telugu, his movie features both Ghanaian and Indian actors.
“Kumkum Burga features Akrobetu, Lilwin, William Aryeetey, Grabriel Agbemabiase and Indian actors Kanchana Ashok, Al Mamoori and Ayser Ehsan.
“ I must say my movie is a good one and I believe Ghanaians will fall in love with it when it is finally released. My movie is very different from Kumkum Bhagya because it has a different storyline.

“ And the Indian characters are not doing voice overs like in the TV series. They actually speak the Twi language. My movie is original and Ghanaians are going to enjoy Indians speaking good Twi” he added.
Throwing more light on Kumkum Burga the movie, Jacobs Owusu Cole said his movie which will be released soon has very good picture quality and good storyline.
“Kumkum Burga is in four parts and I believe Ghanaians are not going to complain when they see the final product” he said.
He explained that it is about time Ghanaians accept that Kumawood producers are doing a great job by keeping the movie industry alive.
Cole who is also an actor has featured in a lot of movies in Ghana and India. Begal Tiger, Parabola, Jadoogadu, He Pradho De Ka De and Dictator are of the Indian movies he has featured in.
Before going to India, Cole who started his movie career as a video editor under Socrate Safo’s Movie Africa featured in Ghanaian movies such as Nipa Ewieye, Fresh Troubles, Wrong Turn, Brotherhood and Nima 441.
A graduate of School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana and Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, Jacobs Owusu Cole said he is back in Ghana to contribute to the growth of the movie industry.
“With the experience I have gathered in India, I believe I can contribute to the growth of the Ghanaian movie.
“I am already in talks with some the Ghanaian producers to do a serious collaboration with the Indian actors” he said.
