Ghana Hotels Association gives value to members

Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) was formed in 1975. It is made up of managing proprietors, managing directors or accredited representatives of hotels, motels, and guest houses that have been certified and licensed by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to offer accommodation, catering and other tourism services in Ghana.

Based on GTA categorisation, members have facilities that are certified as budget, guesthouse, or one to five stars.  

The association has a national office with 11 branches spread over the 10 regions of Ghana and a total membership of more than a 1,000.

The mission of the association is to be unified, effective and instrumental in advocating and shaping policies that promote the hotel industry; to provide training and technical assistance to its membership to strengthen the sector and foster good relationship among members and stakeholders in the tourism industry.  

The vision of the Association is to see a vibrant hospitality sector whereby all hotels in the country will have qualified/trained personnel who will merit international standards and offer quality service delivery to visitors and to boost tourism to become a leading sector of the Ghanaian economy.

Membership Benefits 

The association provides opportunities for social and business networking among players in the hotel industry; serves as a mouthpiece for members and the hotel industry in general, as well as an advocate for improved policies and regulations for the industry; negotiates rates for statutory fees such as Business Operating Permit, Fire Certificate Fee, Ghana Tourism Authority Licence Fee, and royalties for use of Audio-Visual works; provides opportunities for members to learn more about hotel management  practices; and also provides access to information relevant to the hotel industry; operates a welfare system which supports members in various ways; and assists members to deal with challenges that confront their operations. 

The association also provides services to members such as payment of statutory fees, advertising and marketing (hotel directory and website); serves as a source of peer pressure for improved services and standards among member hotels; and provides access to cheap sources of hotel supplies and accessories and also makes it possible for members to buy goods on credit.
